Hello! I hope you are all doing well. I haven't written a lot in a while so I will try to write more. This summer, I am staying in the USA, mostly in Manchester VT area where we have a house. I LOVE Vermont! Vermont is a special place for my family and we have been going there to vacation since I was just a few months old. There is so much fun stuff to do but I will just talk about some of my top places of things to do in Southern VT.
In the summer here, the sun always seems to be shining and the birds are chirping, just a normal day in Vermont! With such awesome weather, we spend a lot of time outside and one of my first stops is Bromley Adventure park! The adventure park is on the same mountain where we skiing/snowboarding, but in the summer they turn into a fun adventure park! They have a lot of rides, like the Giant Swing and Space Bikes for instance. Of course, that isn't all that you can do on the mountain. Sometimes we hike up the mountain to the top and take the alpine slide back down....such fun! However, my favorite thing is the Aerial Adventure. The Ariel Adventure is a rope and obstacle course. First, you start on the yellow level and work your way up to black, but kids can only go up to the level blue, which is a still lot of fun and pretty high! This year I was tall enough to finally do the blue level, which is the “Difficult” but not “Advanced”. It's super fun. Sometimes, it is hard and you feel like you might fall, but you don't have to worry, you have a harness and if you fall it will catch you. The best part are the zip lines! The one on the blue level is pretty long and high and you feel like you are flying. It is so worth doing it and very safe, even my mom who doesn't like heights did it!
The next thing on my list is the Northshire Bookstore. I love the bookstore and my mom and I always go there on rainy days to read books and relax. There also is a cafe in the bookstore so we can grab lunch or a snack while we are there. There is a little tree fort where you can climb up and read in the kids section; sometimes my mom sneaks up with me if the store is quiet and there are not too many people around. There are lot of nooks and crannies and it is peaceful place to get lost in. If you go to Vermont, I definitely recommend hitting this bookstore and supporting the local businesses!
After spending time at Bromley Mountain and sit down in the bookstore, the next thing on the list is Stewart's for ice cream. If you love ice cream, you should definitely come here. Now, Stewarts may take you by surprise because it's also a gas station, but trust me! This is the best ice cream in all of Manchester!
The last thing on my list is Hildene. Hildene is amazing! If you don't know what Hildene is, well it's where Abraham Lincoln’s son spent his summers. It is what they called a “Gentleman’s Farm”. There is a lot of stuff to do at Hildene. Most people start off by taking a tour of the mansion (Abraham Lincoln’s son's house), but I have already been on this tour sooo many times we skip the tour and start off towards the farm. It is about a half a mile walk to the farm, passing by a great frog pond that we always take a stop at to look for tadpoles and salamanders. Once at the farm, there are goats, sheep, and other animals, but if you come at the right time you get to see the baby goats! They let you hold them and play with them. They are soooo cute! Hildene also offers some cool summer camps and each weeks is different theme, from survival camp, to Nets, Buckets and Ponds, there is some many camps there I've lost count. I have gone to a few but my favorite was the survival camp, where we learned to build camp in the woods and start fire without matches. Hildene is super fun to explore and a must on list of places to go while in the Manchester area.
This is only the tip of the iceberg on things to do while in Southern VT. There are so many things that I have not listed, but I am not going to let myself say everything (because that will turn this into a 600-page novel), and I am going to let you find out other secrets and more fun things to do, because that is half the fun of traveling! See you soon and bye!
